After receiving the CRMC assent for an aquaculture lease, there are additional permits and possibly training necessary depending on where into the supply chain the cultured product enters. Marine Dealer License or Direct sales for farmers markets are examples of additional licenses, permits or certifications that growers may want to pursue. Required for all aquaculture farms:

● DEM aquaculture license (for selling product)

● DEM Special Permit for Aquaculture, free, but must be renewed annually

Training and Education:

Before, during or after permitting, consider taking a training course. Some of the certifications that you can achieve are required, others are optional and considered professional or workforce development.
